ABOUT OUR LICENSES:
WACKY PACKAGES!
If you were a kid growing up in the 70's, there's no way you didn't know what Wacky Packages were. For those of you older or younger, Wacky Packages, or Wacky Packs as we called them, were a nothing short of a trading card phenominon. The size of baseball cards, they were actually stickers that featured parodies of popular consumer products. In the hands of prominent artists of the day such as Art Spiegelman, Jay Lynch, Kim Deitch, Bill Griffith and Norm Saunders, products such as Captain Crunch became Captain Crud, Weaties Cereal, the breakfast of champions became, Weakies, the breakfast of chumps, and Campbells Soup became Campy Spide Soup.
Things hit a fever pitch when Wacky Packs were featured on the cover of New York Magazine in 1973 and other prominent publications. They were like currency for kids. We eagerly ripped open the wax packages to see what new or rare treasure might await us and traded them as others traded baseball and football cards. We plastered our walls and school books with them (much to the dismay of our parents and teachers). The artwork was all hand painted (no Photoshop of Corel Draw for these artists). As such, original artwork is currently bought, sold and coveted the same way others buy and sell Picassos and Pollacks (but maybe not for quite as much money).
Topps has continued to produce and sell Wacky Packages through the years and has released new series as recently as last year. Starbucks is Starducks. You can find stores still selling them by visiting www.wackypackages.com. Search for Wacky Packages on ebay and you'll find a list of thousands of items currently being bought and sold. One of the greatest resources for information on all things Wacky Packages is Greg Grants incredible fan-site at www.wackypackages.org. There's much information on buying, selling and trading as well as great quality scans of every Wacky Pack ever produced. His message boards and discussion forums are a phenominal place to get involved and learn all there is to know about this iconic product.
10 Again considers it an honor and privelage to have been granted the rights to produce t-shirts featuring this iconic trading card series.
